Rebuilding Ecosystems

University of Portsmouth in Hampshire, England has researched and developed a plastic structure, similar to Coralline Algae in the Mediterranean Sea. When implanted into the reef, these corals can encourage more biodiversity and protect animals, while the ocean's climate and pH changes.

"Federica Ragazzola, a marine biologist at Portsmouth, said in a news release. 'Coralline algae belong to these groups of organism that may play an important role in buffering the pH decrease thus creating a micro-environment that may help some species to resist future climate changes'" I.25
