Saving Species

RÉSERVE DE LA HAUTE-TOUCHE, located in France, is a zoo and safari park that studies and performs operations on animals to prevent endangered species from going extinct.

 

“They aim to harvest egg and sperm cells from endangered species, then use in-vitro fertilization techniques to produce embryos that could then be implanted in females belonging to more common species." I.20

This process allows for successful reproduction and an increased survival rate of the species. 

Additionally, the reserve has sperm and egg bank for IVF and artificial insemination. By impregnating females through artificial insemination, they can increase the genetic diversity of the population. The genetic variation leads to a higher survival rate of the species. I.20
